}Appearance{ One thing that can be said of Sephiroth is that he looks different. He's over six foot tall and muscularly built because of his intense training and genetic engineering. Sephiroth wears a slightly adapted version of the SOLDIER* uniform, which is essentially composed of black boots, trousers, a sleeveless top (which Sephiroth chooses not to wear), gloves and a series of leather belts. On top of this uniform he has a long, leather black coat and metal shoulder guards.

Sephiroth has delicate, fine features and very pale skin (to the point of being ghostly), to match his insipid complexion he has such light blond hair that it appears silver or translucent. Another feature considered note-worthy are Sephiroth's eyes, which are a glowing green colour and his pupils are elongated into slits (much like that of a snake or cat).

Underneath layers of leather is a large scar that Cloud gave Sephiroth 5 years ago, but it's not on display and it's unlike anyone will ever see it.

}History{ Sephiroth has a long and complicated past, he is the son of ShinRa** scientists Lucrecia and Professor Hojo. When Sephiroth was still in Lucrecia's womb, Hojo injected him with Jenova cells*** in the hopes that he would grow to be a much stronger child (Sephiroth never knew who his parents were). Hojo's experiments paid off, Sephiroth was exceptionally strong and from a young age he was encouraged to work in SOLDIER. He rose up the ranks in no time and before he knew it he was first class. Sephiroth only had two close friends at the top, Genesis; an artistic, well off young man and Angeal; an honourable warrior. The three of them enjoyed sparring together and had a close relationship until 5 years ago when the trio split up as they learnt about the various experiments that had been conducted on them.

In his time in SOLDIER Sephiroth met Zack Fair, a fellow first class. The two of them become acquaintances as they worked together on a few missions and when Sephiroth, Zack and Cloud Strife (an infantryman and hero of Final Fantasy VII) were sent to investigate a malfunctioning reactor at Nibleheim things began to change for Sephiroth. Whilst there he came across a vast number of records pertaining the experiments he went through as a child and misreading the sketchy information he came to the conclusion that Jenova was his mother. This new knowledge and evidence that he wasn't really human broke Sephiroth, he lost his mind; convinced that he must purge Gaia of all of the humans that were wasting the resources that he and his mother would better spend.

He burnt down the village of Nibleheim and attacked Zack and Cloud, but it was Cloud that got the better of Sephiroth and stabbed him through the chest. Sephiroth retaliated but, somehow, Cloud found the strength to throw Sephiroth into the pit of the reactor.

The ShinRa news reported that Sephiroth died that day in the field, but it wasn't quite that simple... He entered the lifestream**** but he didn't relent to it. Travelling through it his spirit and desire were too strong to be absorbed into the lifestream... Sephiroth worked through many of the clones of himself that Hojo had made and through Cloud, who was also infused with Jenova cells, to try and bring above the end of men.

His plan was to use Gaia's most powerful black magic to call up an almighty meteor to crush the planet... Many people tried to stand up to him but Sephiroth fought back. In the end he lost to the only person who had ever gotten the best of him; Cloud. Now bitter and filled with the most intense hatred Sephiroth lives on in the lifestream to bring pain and misery to people. He still wants to bring an end to the world with the power of meteor magic, but high on his agenda in the meantime is to torture Cloud for all that he has taken away from him.

}Psychology{ Ohh boy... Once upon a time Sephiroth was a cool and sensitive man, but ever since the Nibleheim events he has never been the same. He genuinely believes that Jenova is his mother and that he is the rightful heir to the planet. He's aggressive beyond compare, filled with hate and loathing, he's violent, manipulative, sly and determined... A very very dangerous combination!

Some would argue that Sephiroth has some good qualities, but if he does have them, they're hidden so far under his megalomaniac composure that there is 0.01% of them ever being displayed. He cares for nobody, for no one, he takes unhealthy amounts of sadistic pleasure in watching other people's suffering (especially that of Cloud's).

Sephiroth does not get on with people. The only chance you'll ever get for interacting with him is if he kills you because you're in his way or if he thinks he can manipulate you to his own gain.



* SOLDIER is an elite force that protect the peace in the world of Final Fantasy VII
** ShinRa is a very powerful electric company that has it's own army, science department and funds SOLDIER
*** Jenova (a.k.a. The Calamity of the Skies) is a 2000 year old creature that fell to Gaia (the Final Fantasy VII planet) in a meteor, she became a research specimen at ShinRa's science department
**** Lifestream, a pale green liquid-like substance that flows through Gaia. It's the "soul" of the planet
